My Photo

Definition

  • [es-pree de less-ka/-iay] (idiom) A witty remark that occurs to you too late, literally on the way down the stairs. The Oxford Dictionary of Quotations defines esprit de l'escalier as, "An untranslatable phrase, the meaning of which is that one only thinks on one's way downstairs of the smart retort one might have made in the drawing room."

On a Wednesday

Today started in darkness, as usual, and an extra long commute due to an accident. Which was great. I really miss Abby Ryan's morning traffic report. It was always thorough and every ten minutes. I can't find anything regular on the radio so every time I get stopped, I just stew and get angry. Not great. But, I was awarded a beautiful sky when I pulled into the parking lot. I am very glad I picked up some film yesterday.

The first photo is from 8am this morning, the building where I spend Mondays and Wednesdays is silhouetted. The next is my first polaroid self portrait! I finally figured out how to do it with my Spectra. The third is a secret nook/garden roof outside of the architecture library. It's neat. Looks like it's designed by Dr. Suess. I added the photos to the On A Wednesday flickr pool.

Holy cow. That sky is some kind of crazy beautiful!

That sky is awesome! I love the self-portrait. I especially love the chair. I either saw it in a previous post or saw it at the link you gave. Very cool.

You're looking wonderfully fall-ish in the self-portrait, Claire-bear. Fall has officially arrived in Chicago (and in Ohio I'm sure) and it's lovely except when it's raining.

Thanks ladies! I hope you're all well.

Jennifer, I napped on the Corbusier cowhide lounger yesterday and thought of you. :)

Those shoelaces rock!

:)

Hey Claire, get your 20-something hiny over to my place and answer some questions. Send your friends as well.
